Building Regulations Part M states that uninterrupted glazing in critical areas must be clearly marked and therefore instantly recognisable as a barrier.
“Critical location” is the term given to describe internal and external walls, doors and partitioning which are of primary concern in terms of glazing safety. Between the finished floor level and 1500mm (shoulder height), above that level in doors, and in side panels which fall within 300mm of either edge of the door.
Solarshield were commissioned by Lewisham borough council, to make the glass partitioning within their brand new-state-of-the-art adult education facility visible and ensure compliance with health, safety and building regulations.
A collection of imaginative designs were produced in 3M dusted and frosted crystal and applied to the glass corridors surrounding the courtyard. Consequently preventing accidental collision for staff and visitors in the future, upgrading the glass and transforming the courtyard into a vibrant environment.

A wide selection of designs are available to meet every requirement. From simple dots, stripes and waves to company logo’s, a full spectrum of colours are available in a range of finishes.
